Just Another Manic Monday!

Whew! The Monday after the Thanksgiving holiday. A time when we all head back to work, get back into the groove, restart our workout regimens...you get the idea. I'm sure you feel me, in your own way! I myself had a wonderful holiday full of family and friends and general holiday merriment, and I hope you can say the same! However, I am ready to get back to life, back to reality!

Big Freedia (Pronounced “Free-da”) is the undisputed “Queen Diva” of Bounce Music and performs 6 or more times per week in her hometown of New Orleans.

Bounce Music is an original urban music rising up from the intimate and fun-loving nature of the New Orleans housing projects which dominate the city's street culture, and Freedia performs a derivative of Bounce reserved for self-proclaimed "Sissies" (a locally used name for birth-assigned males with varied and ambiguous sexual identities) that has risen to prominence in recent years and features explicitly gay and cross-dressing musicians and themes. Big Freedia, like other "Sissy" artists, has achieved mainstream success with several New Orleans hit singles such as "Gin in My System" and "Azz Everywhere!" from her albums "An Ha, Oh Yeah" (1999) and "Queen Diva" (2003). Since 2009 Freedia has been traveling regularly with her dancers and live DJ, Rusty Lazer, playing to audiences on the East and West Coast alongside (or onstage with) artists such as Spank Rock, Ninjasonik, Japanther, Monique and many more. Big Freedia is currently at work on her third album.

Happy Thanksgiving! ...And Other Random Thoughts!

Hey folks!

Thanksgiving is tomorrow....can you believe it? Tomorrow! I swear the older I get the quicker the years fly by. It feels like just yesterday I was taking down the Christmas lights and packing them away! Here we are, it's almost time to put them up again. Wow.

I don't know about you all, but with all this snow (and the possibility of more to come!), family and friends in town, gatherings to plan and attend, food to prepare, and just general merriment to partake in, it's been a bit difficult for me to find some focus this week. However, I felt like I should pop in and do a little blog post and keep it fresh! So here I am, with some random thoughts, videos, pictures, etc....to share with you! Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Final Words On P.S.

It’s the last full day here in Palm Springs. I can honestly say that our parties at The Ace Hotel & Swim Club for the West Coast Love Train parties that my bestie for all time and business partner, Seattle’s sweet prince, David “D$” Richey, has been down here heading up for months, were an undisputed success! There were tranny’s everywhere (or Drag Queens depending on your take on things), DJ’s playing friggin’ awesome poolside sets, lots and lots of cocktails, photographers snapping pictures everywhere, so many bodies in the pool you could have put it in a can and called it soup! It has been, in a word, FANTASTIC! …AND, I finally got to meet Palm Springs staple, local celebrity, spitfire extraordinaire, that fascinating personality that is Linda Fabulous! My life is now complete. Seriously!



My body is tired from work, my mind is fried from managing details, my liver needs a transplant and I could use about 20 straight hours of sleep, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world! Here are the last round of pics I will share for now (only because I have a piece on “packages” coming out later this week that you must catch)! The only thing that would have made it all better is if your shining faces were in these pics as well! Start saving up for next year kids! You know we’re gonna do it up even bigger and better!







Can’t wrap up the weekend without giving thanks to all of our friends, family, and Seattle crew, for all of their love and support throughout the event. WE COULD NOT DO IT WITHOUT YOU! More Madness In The Sun: Palm Springs Gay Pride Update!

My friends, let me tell you something. I'm tired as hell! I think I've lost the feeling in my limbs. My voice is completely gone. Between the working and the playing, let's just say Mama needs a good nights sleep! But I promised I would update daily, and that's what I'm gonna do!

Where did I leave off? Ah yes. Friday's pool party. Hope you all enjoyed the pics I posted yesterday! I promised I would share some pics from Friday nights Trannyshack festivities, so here they are in all thier tranimal glory! As always, Heklina put together a stellar show. DJ Barbeau and I played before and after the show, and it was crazy fun! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!







So now that you are all updated on Friday, let's talk about yesterday (Saturday)! The day portion at the main pool was crazy packed and Victor Rodriguez and his crew, which included DJ's Susan In Accounting and Honey Sound System as well as performances by JerBer Jones, Tammie Brown (from Rupaul's Drag Race), Phyllis Navidad and Lady Bear - well let's just say I overdosed on hot tunes and drag queens. Two of my favorite things! Here are some pics from that party.....





Right after the pool party, Honeysuckle Hype hosted a great little queer movie night in The Amigo Room here on The Ace Hotel & Swim Club property. As usual, our favorite burlesque superstar threw together a genius program. The whole thing was a couple hours long and featured some films that made you laugh, one that really made me cry like a baby, and there were even a few music videos, like this one, featuring Miss Sherry Vine and the one and only Peppermint!



I also have to give mad props to my boy JT Hooker. Thanks for working out all the technical sh*t for us baby! Couldn't have done it without ya!

After the queer film night, it was a short stumble across the property to see the one and only Juanita More TEAR IT UP on the decks! Completely fierce. I danced my ass off. Good quality house music with a little Latin flare like you don't hear hardly ever anymore. Unfortuntely, me and The Ginger Girl had to cut out a little early to get a few hours of sleep before todays Gay Pride Parade. Which I will fill you in on tomorrow!

Whew! Someone bring me a vodka redbull already!

West Coast Love Train: Day 2 Pool Party Recap!

Hey kids!

It's a crazy freakin' time down here in Palm Springs at The Ace Hotel! Yesterday's pool party was amazing! So much fun! JerBer Jones and Honeysuckle Hype hosted the party and performed a myriad of numbers that blew us all away! David and I have worked with these two on so many events. They are really some of my absolute favorites and their antics always make me smile! Myself and the uber talented DJ Barbeau (of Dirty Sanchez fame), laid down the soundtrack that kept all the glistening booty's shakin' poolside! I'm gonna keep this post short, just wanted to share some of the pictures with you! Wish you were here!











Stay tuned for pics from last nights Trannyshack party, which was equally OFF THE HOOK! Can't say enough about how great the show was! Especially when Ethel Merman dropped a live version of the Tina Turner/Phil Spector classic 'River Deep, Mountain High'. Post and pics from last night will be included in tomorrow's post! I can only expect so much from my Ginger Girl Photographer with all this fabulousness happening all around us!

Welcome to the Palm Springs - Seattle Style!!

It’s Friday morning here in lovely Palm Springs and we are into the 2nd day of Qulture Qreative’s WEST COAST LOVE TRAIN at the beautiful Ace Hotel & Swim Club. David D$ Richey is already on the grounds putting his magical whammy into the scenery and making sure today's festivities are set. My lovely girlfriend, that Ginger Girl Photographer, is sitting next to me editing the pictures from last night’s show so I can share them with you in this blog post today. It takes a team to be fabulous!
So Thursday was a long, crazy day that started off with an amazing dip in the pool. Yes Seattleites! A pool! It was wonderful. Be jealous. Be very jealous. After the dip in the pool, it was back to Hotel Del Richey to slap on a face and get the show on the road! First stop, a breakfast meeting at this awesome place called ‘Cheeky’s’. Mmmm, delish. I’ll spare you the pictures of food.
After breakfast it was back to the grounds of The Ace Hotel to receive the sound equipment, attend a production meeting with the powers that be on the property, and actually producing this event! It was a long day of work: troubleshooting sound issues, getting talent checked in to their respective hotels, running last minute errands. Whew! Then all the friends and family started to arrive. So excited that so many of our Seattle Gays made the trek. We’re gonna drop a little ‘Hard Times’ action on ‘em here in Palm Springs this weekend. They’re not gonna know what hit ‘em! After all the work and preparation (and a delightful soundcheck with the boys from Vintage Youth), it was time to fire up the party that kicked off the weekend’s events.

DJ Nark opened the night with his stylish brand of queer blends. Vintage Youth gave the crowd the most fantastic, shiny-disco-balled, performance (which included an amazing cover of Robyn’s ‘Dancing On My Own’).

Then it was my turn to grab the mic and drop these new Sammy LaForge produced tracks on the crowd (with a special cameo appearance from that hot-ass guerrilla go go, Josh). It was AWESOME! JerBer Jones even got in on the act! Wish you all could have been there, but hopefully the pictures I have included will make you feel like you were!

After the show was over, me and my ginger girl stumbled home, and passed the F*** out! It’s morning again, and a whole new day of events happening which include poolside DJ sets by moi and DJ Barbeau (of Dirty Sanchez fame) and performances by JerBer Jones and Honeysuckle Hype. It’s going to be hot, both literally and figuratively. Then tonight, it’s Trannyshack madness with Heklina and whatever crew of wonderful drag queens she has assembled to wow us! Can’t wait! But, that does mean there’s a lot of work to do, so I better get my arse in the shower and slap on another face and get this show on the road! Tune in tomorrow for a recap of today’s festivities!
