As you may or may not know, I have been enjoying a run as the resident DJ of Girl4Girl's events (my Lezbro Tony Burns has been my faithful guest for a good portion of them as well). It's been really exciting to see how hard the powers that be in the Girl4Girl structure are working on growing and transforming the Girl4Girl brand. I can't wait to see what the next couple months have to offer. Better start organizing my crates so I can keep up!
Ginger Girl Photography (my amazing girlfriend, in all her fabulosity), has been on hand and has captured some of the mayhem on film. Click hereor here to peep the action!
I recorded some of my set from the February 18th event at Century Ballroom and as soon as I get them posted online, I will share with YOU first!
Don't forget to check out the next Girl4Girl event on March 12th at Club Sur!
Girl4Girl is a ladies only event, so for all my gay boys, straight ally's, radical faeries, etc, who might feel left out, PLEASE come out to Lezbro at The Wildrose on March 11. Tony Burns and myself are excited to welcome guest DJ Riff-Raff, and super special host, Miss Oblivious into the mix this month, and we'd be even more excited to see YOU!
A couple weeks back C89.5 FM celebrated their 40th birthday at Neighbours. While I wasn't able to make it because I was playing Girl4Girl's 2nd Saturday party at Club Sur the same night, I have heard it was one wild show, which makes me even more bummed about missing out! Since I can't bring you all the juicy details myself, I asked my good friend, and most talented compadre, C89.5's very own DJ Skiddle to give me the downlow. Here's what he had to say....
FROM DJ SKIDDLE....
The Saturday before last was a windy, rainy, so-typical-it-makes-you-want-to-move-far-away-and-never-look-back PNW kind of day. The one shining spot for me (and 1500 other Seattlites) was c89.5 FM's 40th Birthday Bash. FORTY FUCKING YEARS. The radio station was in junior high when I was born! And they're just hitting their stride. For the past few years, listenership for the station has increased in a way that is blowing the minds of everyone involved. The most recent number I heard was 150,000 unique listeners each month. Given all that info, I'm sure it's not a surprise they threw an awesome party. The line-up offered something for everyone. I saw 4 yr-olds next to 65 yr-olds, every walk of life/look/scene/genre mixed together in a sweaty mass on the Neighbour's dancefloor from 6pm to 10pm. More importantly, they were all getting along just fine. They shared the common goal of having fun and getting down.
The anticipation was rapidly building during the first hour and all hell broke loose as soon as Mel Akai took the stage around 6:45. She kicked off the party with the Banger Bros. produced track 'Beep Beep Boom', and there was a definite emphasis on the BOOM. I was up next and it was a tough act to follow, but the crowd was there to party and they were just getting started. After throwing down a few mashups I made for the show, Seattle's favorite bomb o' energy, Lisa Dank grabbed a mic, joined me on the stage and dropped her new Sammy LaForge produced track ‘Body Language’ on to the crowd. You should be listening for this track to hit the clubs over the next few weeks. It's a horn- and string-infused thumper of a disco track and she was speakin' directly to the dancefloor. Following that up with "On the Radio" pushed the crowd over the top. A few times, all I could hear were the crowd singing louder than the sound system!
Once the locals got the crowd heated, the stage was hit with one amazing performance after another. Naimh Egan, a gorgeous Irish singer with killer leopard-print boots, sang a very stirring, acoustic version of the classic house track "You Got the Love" followed by her recent hit "You're the One". H-Boogie (probably my personal fave of the headliners) sang a Dave Armstrong produced track from five years ago called "Love is Gone" that many of you will remember. Then she blew us away with her collab track with Get Far called "The Radio". Her voice is sultry and uplifting, and she's one of the coolest yet nicest people I met at the show. She even hopped back on to the stage to sing a spontaneous "Happy Birthday" to the station! Scene newcomers, HyperCrush were the next act and by far the most energetic and entertaining. Their first smash single "Kick Us Out" has been climbing the charts and will no doubt be holding a spot there for a few weeks if not months. I was standing to the side of the stage taking notes like "Day-Glo is back” and “crowd surfing is still acceptable, even encouraged”. Richard J Dalton was also on the decks between acts, though his dj set was more of a stage performance, served on a sequin platter, garnished with feather boas (in a cow costume, nonetheless!). The crowd ATE IT UP! Finishing out the night was legendary techno producer/dj Brooklyn Bounce. His hit “Club Bizarre” was a smash about a decade ago and just got the rework treatment by duo Djs from Mars. His set was an hour-long mashup of one trance hit after another, all circa 2001, but remixed to give it a current touch. It was impressive to feel the emotions he recalled, and inspiring to know the younger half of the crowd was building those same memories. And that’s really what I love about these parties. Reliving memories of youth while building memories for the future, all in the NOW.
Hey all! Hope your week is going well so far. I personally have a headache to beat the band, but am forging ahead because, well, as Christopher Walken tells Brendan Frasier in "Blast From The Past", you must.
Lots of projects that I'm juggling right now which you will all hear plenty about in the weeks and months to come, and I couldn't be more excited! You know what else I am excited about? THIS WEEKEND! Jam packed full of music and fun, and I can't wait! If you are planning on being out and about this weekend, please come catch one or both of these two events! I promise you will be enchanted! Enchanted? Well, you know what I mean! Read ON!

This month’s installment of LEZBRO features a special performance by “DJ to the porn stars”, Sammy LaForge! Wherever Sammy goes, his “Fluffers” are sure to follow, and they are HOT! Sammy LaForge is not only a talented performer, but an awe-mazing DJ, AND, his independent production can be heard frequently on c89.5! He’s involved in some massive collaborations (Cybersutra, The Banger Brothers), and he’s produced tracks for Mel Akai, Lisa Dank, and moi, and numerous others! He will be bringing his live performance to our humble little freak-fest for the February Lezbro, and we couldn’t be more excited about it! I may even jump on the mic myself!
Last month JT Hooker worked it out hardcore on the visual tip, and he has agreed to grace us with a continuous visual display each month, compliments of 12hr notice.
The Wildrose, as usual, continues to offer super economical (and by that, I mean get crunk for CHEAP) cover charge – a mere $3, as well as some incredibly unbelievable drink specials (varies from night to night). This makes Lezbro hard to pass up! So come early for your pre-funk, stumble in late for your wrap-up, or stay all night and don’t miss a thing – but GET THERE! Lezbro….LET’S GO!

Well, that's what's up for this weekend! Hope to see you out and about!
I absolutely ADORE The Banger Bros! How could I not? I mean, both of the boys who make up this project, Scott Binder and Naite Heal, have a super special place in the heart of The Eyes Of Laura Kendall. Let's see, what's the history here? Ah yes!
I first fell for good ol' Scott Binder ages ago when I was playing my residency at Last Supper Club. I remember rockin' out behind the decks and hearing this extra percussion that was not in my mix. I mixed in another record and the beats changed up, but there was still a distinct addition that was not pressed into the wax of the track I was playing. My eyes wandered around the room, and through the crowd, my eyes came to rest on this super hot guy, who was playing percussion like the little baby jesus himself had come to testify, right through his hands. It was magical. So magical in fact, that I asked him to come back and play with us every month when it came time for my residency. His talent, and his hot bod (yes, I am a lesbian, but I'm not dead kids!), added that little extra whammy that made the show go OFF! We became friends and he moved on to SF (and I believe now NYC) to pursue DJing, production, and god only knows what else. He's too talented to be contained obviously.
Next up came Mr. Nathan Heal, Naite as his friends call him. I officially met Naite when my business partner and bestie for life, David "D$" Richey and I were throwing Hard Times at the now defunct War Room (ah, the good ol' days). Naite came on a fairly regular basis and we became acquainted. However, he really caught my attention when I started seeing some of the videos he was working on through Facebook, and hearing his original production on c89.5 and in mixes by DJ Skiddle. The more I heard, the more I liked. The more I spent time with Naite, the more I appreciated that all of this talent was coming out of one of the sexiest, most humble folks I'd ever met. He's been gracious enough to work with me, lending his production to my original lyrics through his alter ego, Sammy LaForge. You can hear the E.P. we did together, aptly named after this blog, by clicking here. If you likey, go to the good ol' I Tunes and download!
Now, I loved these two separately, but imagine my surprise when I realized that the two had multiple collaborations together under their belts. Cybersutra anyone? ....and now, The Banger Bros. All I can say is that you better jump on this train now, so you can be at the forefront of The Banger Bros following. You want to be one of those people who knew from the get go...not the random sheep that follow just because they are blowing up. Though, to tell you the truth, as long as you're supporting these dudes, I don't care what angle you come from! Just get at it. Beep, Beep Boom - featuring the lovely and talented (and super sweet) Ms. Mel Akai, is the track that is makin' the rounds right now. It's so hot, it's likely to start a freakin' forest fire! It'll most def be the jam of the summer. Mark my words kids. I know Im'ma put that sh*t on blast!
....and now, ba da da da da da dah! The Banger Bros have a new website. http://thebangerbros.com/. Check it. Bookmark it. Visit it frequently cause you know it's gonna be updated with all kinds of exciting news in the weeks and months to come! If you kinda, maybe, wanna have a e-gasm, click here. I promise you won't be sorry!
