Random Thoughts Just Days From 40...

I have a bunch of randomness going on in my head right now and I couldn't quite decide what to write a blog post about this week, so I thought I would just throw it all together.  Blog salad.

First I wanted to share this.  It's kind of adorable when you see the strange influences you have on your kids.  This last week I have started my annual purge, and in doing so, the ginger boy received some prime new sneaks that he was super stoked about.  I would have been too.  They were tight kicks!  Anyway, he spent several hours gathering up all of his shoes and lining them up against his bed.  He kept asking me to take a picture, and to be honest, I couldn't understand why. Sometimes though, when it comes to kids, it doesn't make sense until you get halfway into it, you know what I mean?  So while he was in the shower, I lumbered into his room to snap a photo.  As I was doing so it occurred to me why he was so proud of this.

Awww.  Right?!?!  I love that little dude.

Anyway, the next little tidbit that has me all up in arms is this piece from So You're EnGAYged that my lovely lady read to me last night while I was futzing around.  Click here to read the piece.  It's funny, and sometimes sad, the bumps that occur in the road during what should be such a happy time.  I feel like I can identify, if not with the specifics, certainly the theme.  ...and on this note, I will remind everyone that they should get involved with Washington United for MarriageVote YES on Ref 74 in November.  Whether you believe in marriage or not, we can all agree that it should be every ones right to do so.  ...and if you don't agree, I'm not sure how you found my blog!

Lastly, yes, it's my birthday week.  All Cancerians know that there is no such thing as a birthday, only a birthday week.  My friend Colby b stretches it to a birthday month somethings. She's bi-coastal.  She's entitled.  Anyway, just a few days from 40 and tomorrow the festivities begin.  I am ready to Rock and Roll at Big Freedia tomorrow night.  Not only am I part of the groups presenting the show, which makes me really proud, but this will serve as the beginning of my birthday week!  Can't think of a better way to celebrate!  If you want more info about the event, check it out by clicking here.
